Puerto San Jose

We spent the first two nights on the Pacific coast in a city called Puerto San Jose. We got to watch the sun set on the beach. It wasn't your typical white sand, but rather black due to the volcanoes in the area. Lee and I took off our shoes and waded into the ocean for awhile. It was so warm, but left our feet covered with black sand. As we were heading back to the hotel we saw a sign posted stating that you are at risk for a certain skin disease if you swim in the ocean. Too bad our guide didn't read us that sign BEFORE we waded!

(It's a mystery to me that a people who live so close to the land and rely on it for their livelihood don't seem to care about picking up their garbage. It's almost invisible to them.)
